Leading High Street Retail Chain

My client is the Departmental Manager Susan with 12 reporting staff, all female Female assistant in store Tracey alleging harrassment by warehouse assistant (male) Tracey confides in Susan, her immediate superior as departmental manager.

Susan approaches warehouse assistant’s line manager Gary, who ranks equally with Susan as a departmental manager, and who meets the General Manager (store manager) for a drink after work occasionally.

General manager interviews both parties and finds no case.

Susan believes the store manager to be too close to her male colleague.

NHS Trust

My client is a senior sister, Margaret, with 20 year experience who is managing a busy outpatients department of 30 staff. She is now called the Outpatients Manager As manager she only gets one-day-a-week ‘hands on’ as a nursing sister.

She is having difficulties with an older and very experienced member of staff, Agnes, whose work is not satisfactory. Agnes is offhand and dictatorial with patients who complain.

Margaret has spoken to Agnes several times. Agnes accepts the issue and says ‘yes OK’ she’ll be more careful but she slips back into her old habits. When Margaret attempts to broach the issue again Agnes says ‘dont pick on me’.

The consultants have begun to say they dont want Agnes working on their clinics.
